Something a little new at our 29 March NLP Practice Group

  • “Really useful, productive and enjoyable. Good session dynamic!”
  • “As usual it was an excellent morning. I thought it worked very well with the mixture of practice, coaching and discussion of a coaching issue.”
  • “Excellent practice group, Jeremy. Thank you.”
  • “I feel very rusty so was good to make a start again.”

Last Saturday’s NLP practice group was again really well-received. As usual, we covered a few topics: this time the group chose the following topics:

  • Submodality Belief Change, and its link to Neuro-logical Levels
  • cartesian Coordinates
  • a little on Meta Programmes

They also chose something a little different; one of the attendees brought a real-life challenge for some group input and mentoring. The topic was Identity shifts.

Here were some of the key learnings:

Submodality Belief Change:

  • Elicit the actual limiting belief
  • This belief change process is probably best suited for beliefs at capability, behaviour or environment level, rather than heavy-duty identity limiting beliefs.
  • Elicit submodalities quickly
  • Use short-hand when eliciting submodalities, e.g. ‘N’ for ‘near’, ‘B’ for ‘black & white’. This helps speedy elicitation.
  • Remember to test and future pace!

cartesian Co-ordinates

  • Can be used for decisions, as well as to address challenges and for problem-solving
  • Richard, one of the attendees, mentioned that it links to a well-respected analytical tool developed by management consultancy company Kepner-Tregoe.

‘Identity shifts’

Lesley Pyne (Lesleypyne.co.uk) works with women who are struggling to deal with accepting that they cannot have children. She finds that many of her clients are initially holding the ‘problem’ at Identity level (using the Neuro-logical Levels model), rather than Capability level. Lesley wanted some tips from the group about how else she could support her clients in addressing this.

Suggestions included:

  • Reframing: for example finding out what the intention/purpose of having children is and then asking how else could the clients achieve this, asking how else they could ‘parent’ or support children or support parents.
  • Finding out what is the belief behind the belief e.g. what does it mean about them, and then using a belief change technique

The group liked the idea of someone bringing a ‘real life challenge

20 minute coaching session

  • The GROW coaching model is very effective when there is limited time (and when there’s more time!)
  • Having a brief time period focussed the mind, and a lot can be achieved even in 20 minutes.

What our students and clients say

Ivona Gordon

Jeremy has a unique approach to bringing out the best in people. He certainly practices what he preaches!  Jeremy is one of a handful of trainers/coaches/practitioners that I would, without any hesitation, recommend to others.  He is knowledgeable, ethical and shows genuine passion for the work he does and how best to serve others.

Mel Larsen

Before doing the NLP course, I had felt I needed more coaching approaches and methodologies. The course gave me a lot of new techniques which I have used to help my coaching clients. Also I was launching my new coaching brand as I was doing the programme and looking back I can see it helped me to set big targets and reach them.

Donna de Villiers

I have had the pleasure of studying with Jeremy, and the NLP he has taught has had a wonderful impact on my personal and professional life.  Jeremy explains NLP in an accessible, easy, manner and for me took away the fluff of the subject.  The practical help on the courses and the smaller classes give you a personal learning environment, perfect for this subject.  I highly recommend Jeremy for anyone interested in NLP.

Simon Fanning

I found the course to be enlightening both personally and professionally.  Jeremy’s experience of the corporate world allowed for a real life perspective to be taken and a focused view into NLP and its application in Business and coaching.

Dave Cordle

I’ve undertaken three major trainings with Jeremy: NLP Practitioner, NLP Master Practitioner and most recently NLP Sports Practitioner. I keep coming back because the training is thorough, ethical and ecological, and it’s academically recognized. As a career coach I work with people at all stages of their career, across levels and across a wide range of industries.

Dara Caryotis

I feel privileged to have discovered NLP, it has changed my life. Understanding communication, the impact of language and being able to change unwanted behaviours has been the difference that made the difference for me.  Jeremy is so much more than an NLP Master Trainer.  It is a powerful rewarding experience learning and evolving with Jeremy. I highly recommend studying with Jeremy, one of my best decisions.
